Luxury Jet Charter Flights

The Rich Heritage Behind Our Luxury Jet Charter Flights

At Luxaviation, our passion for luxury travels and commitment to each passenger take root in a long history that began decades before our current-day success. At face value, our jet charter flights come with prestigious terminals, beautifully appointed cabins, Michelin star fine dining, and fine wines, but behind it all lies a rich legacy of excellence that began years ago with one man’s dream.

How it All Started

Our story begins in 1964, Belgium, with the vision of our founder – André Ganshof van der Meersch. As a passionate pilot himself, Ganshof van der Meersch founded the first European business aviation terminal at Brussels International Airport in 1964. In the year 1972, he introduced to the Belgian Civil Aviation Registry the first business jet and went on to set a new distance record in 1978 with a Cessna 441 Conquest on a 2 557-mile delivery journey across the transatlantic from Brussels, Belgium to Newfoundland, Canada.

Ganshof van der Meersch quickly learned during his time on US soil that there was a need for a private aviation approach to business travel. Jet charter flights would allow for quicker travel times between destinations and greater access to a wider range of locations. His newfound knowledge of private charters for business and leisure activities led Ganshof van der Meersch to refine this concept for the European market. Our modern idea of private aviation in Europe has evolved from the best practices, various safety regulations, and vision as set forth by Ganshof van der Meersch.

An Unwavering Commitment to Excellence

As the founder of Abelag Aviation, Ganshof van der Meersch was the first to implement the rule of a crew of two pilots. It was also upon his insistence that Abelag Aviation aircraft were equipped with the best equipment that was available at the time. State-of-the-art features and the level of luxury in these jet charter flights were what attracted a range of elite clientele, such as top businessmen, and contracts with royal households, government institutions, and Heads of State.

Abelag Aviation partnered with Unijet along with nine other operators and formed the European Business Aviation Association in 1977 to maintain the best interests of business aviation on the continent. In 2013, Abelag Aviation joined the Luxaviation Group, and the merge meant that Ganshof van der Meersch’s vision of safe, efficient, and luxurious jet charter flights caught on globally.

Today, it is still this same pioneering spirit and endless pursuit of innovation that drives us forward here at Luxaviation, and we invite you along on the journey with us.
