Luxaviation has signed a long-term agreement with Icelandic company IdunnH2 to purchase 10,000 tonnes of synthetic sustainable aviation fuel (eSAF) per year for 15 years, starting in 2029. The fuel will be produced near Keflavik International Airport using renewable electricity and recycled carbon dioxide, supporting the group’s commitment to long-term decarbonisation.
The eSAF will meet EU RED II, ReFuelEU, and Renewable Fuels of Non-Biological Origin standards, ensuring compliance with key sustainability regulations. As IdunnH2’s launch customer, Luxaviation will use the fuel across its global operations, including its aircraft management, charter fleet, and ExecuJet FBO network.
Initially, eSAF distribution will be managed through a book-and-claim system, with potential for direct fuel uplift at selected locations being explored. This will depend on developing an efficient logistics chain in the coming months.
“Securing reliable SAF supply is essential for credible progress in aviation sustainability,” said Patrick Hansen, CEO of Luxaviation Group. “We are proud to support emerging infrastructure that aligns with our carbon reduction roadmap.”
Luxaviation continues to lead sustainable aviation efforts by combining long-term demand planning with practical, scalable solutions.
