Leading the Way in Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) Operations

Since Luxaviation's foray into the Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) ecosystem in 2019, the Group has forged strategic partnerships with industry pioneers such as Lilium and, Embraer Eve, Ascendance Flight Technology. Notably, in Q1 of 2022, we proudly unveiled our collaboration with Rolls-Royce to spearhead the development and deployment of AAM solutions. Rolls-Royce's expertise in electrification solutions, maintenance support services, and digital solutions will be instrumental in realising our vision for a network of vertiports.

This shared vision encompasses the advancement of AAM solutions, including all-electric and hybrid-electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft, and can also support eCTOL category. Partners have vast expertise of entry into service of new vehicles and related challenges hence aim at focusing on three key areas:

  • Maintenance provision for electric aircraft;
  • Charging and energy infrastructure for vertiports;
  • Digital solutions for various applications across the AAM landscape.

Sigma Air Mobility

In November 2022, Luxaviation took a significant step towards decarbonising aviation by establishing Sigma Air Mobility, a dedicated air mobility company. Sigma Air Mobility is actively enhancing existing partnerships and forging new ones with original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and ecosystem partners to develop operating concepts and facilitate the early deployment of the latest hybrid-electric, full electric, and hydrogen-powered vehicles across Europe and Asia and within the Luxaviation Group.

This long-term initiative underscores Luxaviation's unwavering commitment to fostering a sustainable aviation industry.

The aviation industry's trajectory towards decarbonisation is non-linear and demands ambitious goals every day. While electrification is pivotal in this transition, the industry also recognises the need for complementary energy sources, such as hydrogen opening to new segments. Embracing this structural shift presents a formidable challenge, but through collaborative efforts, the aviation sector can seize this opportunity.

Christophe Lapierre, CEO of Sigma Air Mobility, remarks, "Our concept prioritises agility and continual evolution to scale up Advanced Air Mobility operations in sync with regulatory developments and market demands."
